Sunday Coupon Preview – 10/20/2013

19 Oct

Tomorrow is Sunday, so time for another Sunday Coupon Preview post!

Tomorrow’s paper will only consist of one insert for most of us, though some papers will feature a second, special section with coupons for toys & children’s products.

Sunday, October 20th’s paper will contain one Smart Source insert, as well as a Little Tikes insert for some of you. If you’re interested in this second insert, be sure to grab a paper from a larger city if that is an option for you!

Check out Sunday Coupon Preview‘s website for all the details!

Details – Beginner’s Couponing Class

14 Oct

This weekend is the kick-off of my fall/winter Beginner’s Couponing Class!

If you’d like to learn all the basics of coupon use, shopping sales, & saving at the grocery store, this is definitely the class for you. Maybe you’ve heard about couponing through friends, relatives or TV shows, but don’t know where to start – I can show you! Don’t think you have time to “waste” couponing? In three short hours, I’ll show you that there’s no such thing as being too busy to save big!

  • Class will be held on Saturday & Sunday evening this weekend, October 19th & 20th. (Each day is the same lesson, so you only need to attend one class – you choose whichever evening works best for you!)
  • Class runs from 6-9 PM both nights, with short breaks and refreshments offered.
  • Classes will be held at the LifeSong church building, (behind SuperQuik in downtown Russell, KY) in the downstairs classroom. (Signs will be posted!)
  • You DO NOT need to be a LifeSong member to attend, but if you are, you will receive a discount!
  • The price for the class is $20 per person, or $15 per LifeSong member. (Please bring payment with you on the night that you choose to attend, or pay prior to this weekend’s classes.)
  • Everyone is welcome on a walk-in basis, but by letting us know in advance that you plan to attend, we can ensure that we will have enough materials for everyone!

Can’t come this weekend? Not to worry – several more weekends will be scheduled in November & December!

Please feel free to call, email or message me with any questions, and I can’t wait to see you start saving!

Check out this great deal, posted over on Hip2Save today! Love it!

How would you like to get a PhotoBook with up to 100 photos shipped for FREE right to your mailbox?!

GrooveBook, a FREE app for both iPhones, iPods, iPads and Android Devices, allows you to easily and quickly create a photo book of up to 100 photos taken directly from your smartphone (or from photo albums on your PC or Mac). I love the fact that the photos come right from the camera roll of your phone – this is great for people like me whose photos tend to live on their phone and never actually become prints. Can any of you relate?! 😉

The GrooveBook app prints your monthly camera roll into an awesome 4.5” x 6.5” photobook for FREE and mails it directly to you every month (that’s my first GrooveBook pictured above!). The photos in your book are printed on glossy photo paper and are even…

Earn Cash for Shopping Online!

7 Oct

Do you shop online during the holidays? With the holly, jolly seasonal shopping rush fast approaching, it’s an increasingly smarter way to beat the crowds and save big bucks on everything you need to make things merry & bright.

But did you know that you can actually EARN money for making everyday purchases online? Through sites like eBates and ShopAtHome, you can build up cash-back rewards, and actually receive checks, mailed right to your home, once you’ve accrued a certain amount. As a bonus, these sites often offer special deals, discounts and incentives, like gift cards & prizes. That’s right – shop at home, save money, get rebates checks sent right to your door. It’s that simple!

Check out the two most popular rebate sites here, then let me know in the comment section if you’ve found any other sites you like to use for online shopping rewards!

The Kids’ Sale – Because Kids are Expensive!

7 Oct

If you have children of ANY age, you surely know by now that keeping them in clothes, toys, age-appropriate supplies for school and other gear can be outrageously pricey. The average American family pays between $1,000-$4,000 PER MONTH on their children’s expenses ALONE.

I plan to do a lot of posts about child raising on the cheap, but this one is a really big deal in my local area. There is a consignment sale, happening several times yearly, called The Kids’ Sale. You can find the sale for about a week at a time, in designated areas in the tri-state. Today marks the kick-off of this season’s Ashland-area sale (closest location to me) in the KYOVA Mall in Ashland, KY. The sale will run from today, October 7th – Saturday, October 12th, and is open each day from 9AM-8PM.

If you have children, I strongly urge you to check this sale out. It features numerous clothing, accessory, toy and furniture items, along with miscellaneous items geared toward children, all gently used and in good condition. The prices are wonderful – especially compared to what you will find when purchasing many of these items brand new – and can add up to some big savings for Christmas shopping, belated back-to-school stocking up, or just filling your child’s drawers & closets with necessities.

Two suggestions for shopping the sale are as follows:

Shop Early – You’ll see the best selection, as items are not typically “restocked” after being purchased. First come, first served in most cases!

Shop Late – Shopping on the last day gives you access to great “end of sale” discounts, up to 50% off in many cases!

When you go obviously will depend on your shopping style and (more likely) your free time, but regardless of when you shop, I urge you to stop by & check this sale out! It won’t be back again for months, so act quickly!

For more information, check out the sale’s official website:

Tougher Times – More Savings!

7 Oct

Thank you to everyone who’s still on board with me & my blog. I’ve had a really rough family situation going on lately, but things seem to be leveling out now, and I’m hoping to get back to blogging full time!

The title of this post is indicative of how a lot of people are feeling right now. Because of circumstances beyond our control, things are going to be harder for my husband, daughter and I this fall and winter. Money is going to be just a little shorter, and time is going to be spread very thinly between all of our commitments and obligations. With that being said, I’m trying to look at this situation as a chance to really put my couponing & savings skills to work. This will be an opportunity for me to really make our money work for us.

What about all of you? What does the harvest and holiday season approaching mean for your budget? Couldn’t we all use a little extra cash in our wallets at this time of year? Since that’s not a likely scenario for most of us, I propose that what we can do instead is bulk up on the coupons (and sales ads!) in our arsenal instead, and really make good use of the time that we have, so we can devote more of it to enjoying our family & friends.

Look for a new series coming next month – Couponing Toward Christmas – and stick around for some great tips on making whatever amount you have in your family’s budget this year streeeetch!

BIG NEWS – Upcoming Couponing Classes!

25 Sep

First let me say it’s great to be back to blogging – my computer is finally among the living once more, so I will hopefully be able to stay on top of bringing you money-saving tips more regularly! (Look for a post later this week about local artists & how you can save money while supporting your community!)

Now, onto my big news – This fall, I will be conducting a bi-weekly couponing class right here in my community. Here is the information you need to know on the class itself, as well as how to get in touch with me if you’re interested! Keep in mind – walk-ins are perfectly welcome the day of each class, but reserving a spot will ensure I have all of your FREEBIES ready when you arrive!

  • Classes will be held every other weekend, in the LifeSong Church building in downtown Russell, KY. (If the demand increases, I may add more classes!)
  • Classes will be 3 hours long each time, and will cover the same material each time. (So you only need to take the class once!)
  • The classes will cost $20 per person, or $15 for LifeSong Church members.
  • Classes will run from the first weekend of October through the last weekend of December.

Beginning in January of 2014, I will be offering FREE weekly follow-up meetings for anyone interested in learning even more about coupons, shopping smart, stretching a dollar and saving big! This “Life Group” will be open to church members and anyone who has attended one of my fall 2013 classes!

If you and a group of friends/family are interested in taking a class but can not attend, I can come to you! Just contact me to set up a date/time and payment information, and I will give you a discounted group rate!

I can be reached at: c.blackaby.barker @ or 606-834-8088

I also have Facebook & Twitter, so find me there if you’d like!

Thanks for everyone’s interest, and please be sure to share this post with everyone you know who’s interested in saving money! (So basically, everyone!)
